October 26th, 2010 - Computer maker Asus and GPS maker Garmin jumped into the combined smartphone/GPS business with the nüviphone G60 back in 2009, and despite a series of follow-up devices and expanding to embrace Google’s Android platform, the devices have failed to resonate well with the consumer marketplace. And now Asus has pulled the plug, saying on Monday that it is ending its mobile phone partnership with Garmin. The move will likely put Garmin out of the mobile phone business—at least for the time being.

This week, Garmin raised the bar in the geocaching game with the release of the Chirp wirelessgeocaching beacon. This device, used with a compatible Garmin GPS receiver, allows for the reception of programmed information into the GPS receiver. This information includes a message from the Chirp owner with coordinates to a next stage of nearby special cache container. This can open up new variations of the game not just for geocaching, but also for orienteering and letterboxing.
The models that he Chirp communicates with are; Garmin Oregon x00 and x50, Dakota, and the new GPSMAP 62/78 models. The new firmware is installed through the Webupdater software available from Garmin.

October 19, 2010 - With so many rumors about a new MacBook Air ahead of Apple’s “Back to the Mac” event, it is getting hard to keep up. From what we know so far there could be two models, an update to the current 13.3-inch version, as well as a new 11.6-inch version.
Offering an update to the current model and unveiling one that will compete with the netbook market would be the ideal situation for Apple; this is because the netbook market is still healthy, so they need their slice of the pie. We still do not know if a smaller version will be unveiled, as recent rumors suggests that Apple is sticking with the size. When looking at the design of the current MacBook Air there is not much that needs changing, as it still looks very sleek and sexy looking. However, according to Dan Draper from Cult of Mac, it will have a design similar to that of the iPhone 4.

An Australian businessman has commissioned the luxury designer Stuart Hughes to make him a diamond iPhone 4.
The new iPhone 4 has a bezel which features around 500 individual rose diamonds, while the rear of the mobile is covered in rose gold. The Apple logo on the rear of the mobile features another 53 diamonds , while the home button is made of platinum and has a huge 7.4 carat pink diamond in the middle. That's not all though as the mobile also comes with a 7kg granite chest to store the precious device.
