Verizon Wireless Makes More Phones Skype-Capable

By Speedway on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 with

You can now make Skype calls on a whole slew of Verizon Wireless mobile phones.

The carrier says the LG Octane, the Samsung Zeal and the Pantech Crux now have Skype capabilities. Just last week, Skype was added to the brand-new Motorola Droid Pro, the Moto Citrus, LG Vortex, BlackBerry Curve 9330 and Samsung Continuum. That makes nearly two dozen handsets from Verizon that can be used to make Skype calls.

Skype-to-Skype calls on smartphones allow users to chat without using up their monthly minutes; however, you must have a data plan in order to use Skype features. The service first became available in March when nine Android and BlackBerry phones became the first to be Skype-friendly.

The Skype app can be downloaded from the Skype website.
